So, I had a really, long tiresome day today. I came back from school at 6 p.m. and then had an extracurricular class till 7:45 p.m. And while I should be studying for the three exams that I have tomorrow, this daily prompt really intrigued me. “These Horns Were Made for Tooting – Share something you love about yourself!” I really love this metaphor. I’m sure we all have a bit of narcissism hiding in between the folds of our brains. So why not let it lose? (Only for this post though!) Also, isn’t it good to take time out of your day for self-appreciation? *insert chuckle*
I love that I invest time in spirituality. By spirituality, I don’t necessarily mean religion. I mean investing time in the betterment of myself, in finding answers to all those unanswered questions and connecting with my “higher self.” I love reading texts of different faiths. But of course, I owe my allegiance to my all-time favorite – Swami Prabhupada’s Bhagavad-Gītā As It Is. To me it holds the answers to all the philosophical questions that I ponder upon and it is so much more than a regular holy book. It questions materialism, reincarnation, liberation from the māyā of this world and most importantly enlightenment. Not only that, I also love Buddhistic approaches to life. Particularly meditation. I would also love to pursue yoga.
I love that I am a very goal-oriented person. Trust me, setting a few goals in the morning to complete throughout the day has tons of benefits. And I say this through experience! These don’t have to be the”Complete your Math homework.” type goals. They can be simple, self-improving goals such as “Give a meaningful compliment to someone today.” or “Catch up with that friend who you haven’t seen in a while.” By setting these short and simple goals, your mind will handle the more complicated and longer ones easily.
Alright! I think it’s time for me to push the inherent and ever-present bits of narcissism back into the folds of my brain – never to be discovered again! But on a more serious note, I really enjoyed writing this, it really made me appreciate the little things in me and love myself even more. Now… let me get back to studying for those three pending exams. Love you all and enjoy the remainder of the week!
